VentPlus for gyms & studios

Hard training,
honest air

A person sitting quietly produces roughly 18 to 20 litres of CO2 an hour. The same person at a hard training intensity produces six to eight times that. Put twenty of them in a sealed, air-conditioned studio for a 6 a.m. class and the room's CO2 behaves like a room holding well over a hundred office workers.

Members feel it as heaviness, early fatigue, a session that felt harder than it should have, and stale air that lingers into the next class. Air conditioning does not fix it — a split AC recirculates the same air it just cooled. Only ventilation removes CO2, and VentPlus is what decides when the ventilation runs.

2,800ppm Very Poor A crowded evening floor with the AC recirculating.
4,000ppm Severe Headache, nausea, genuinely unpleasant. Seen in small sealed spin studios.

The CO2 a person exhales scales almost directly with metabolic rate. A desk worker sits at about 1.2 MET; a spin or HIIT class runs at 6–8 MET. So one member training hard produces roughly six to eight times the CO2 of the same person at a desk — which is why gyms go stale far faster than their floor area suggests. The VentPlus solution

The gym's fan already exists.
It just runs at the wrong times.

Most gyms already have an exhaust fan or a fresh-air unit. It is either off, because it makes the room hot, or on all day, because nobody wants to think about it. VentPlus makes it demand-controlled: the fan runs hard while the class is in the room and stops when the room is empty, so you get the air quality without the cooling bill of a fan that never stops.

1

Set the trigger for exercise, not for offices

A gym runs hotter than an office. Fan ON at 1,500–1,800 ppm and OFF at 900 ppm is a good starting point; all four values are set from the front panel and can be changed any time.

2

The fan tracks the class, not the clock

Ventilation ramps up with a full 7 a.m. floor and stops during the mid-morning lull — automatically, with no staff involvement.

3

Show members the number

The unit's backlit LCD reads the live CO₂ level on the wall. Air quality you can point at is a genuine differentiator in a market where every gym claims to be premium.

Real-Time and Historical CO2, Temperature
and Humidity Monitoring From Anywhere

See exactly when your floor goes stale. The VentPlus dashboard plots CO₂ across the day, so you can line the peaks up against your class timetable and staff the ventilation — or the schedule — accordingly. Multi-branch operators can check every location from one browser. Temperature and relative humidity are graphed on the same time axis, so you can see how hot and humid the floor gets in a packed class, and export all of it to Excel.

Why this matters for a training business

High CO₂ does not just feel unpleasant. It measurably changes how hard exercise feels and how well people think — and in a subscription business, how a session felt is the whole product.

+13.7%
Task performance

A meta-analysis pooling 47 experiments and 3,679 participants found better ventilation raised task performance by 13.7% and cut error rates by 16%. The mechanism is the same one that makes a stuffy room feel like hard work.

+101%
Higher-order thinking

Cognitive scores were up to 101% higher in low-CO2, well-ventilated air than in a conventional sealed space. The largest gains were in strategy and crisis response — the functions that fade first when a room goes stale.

700W
What it can switch

The AC socket on the unit is rated 3A / 700W, enough for the exhaust fans found in almost any studio. Bigger loads run through a contactor. The optional Wi-Fi Relay puts the fan in a different room from the sensor with no new cabling.

Common questions

CO₂ in gyms — questions we get from operators

Below 1,000 ppm is ideal and matches ASHRAE 62.1 / WHO guidance for occupied indoor space. In practice most Indian gyms set the fan to switch ON at 1,500–1,800 ppm and OFF at around 900 ppm, which keeps the room comfortable without running the exhaust — and losing cooling — continuously.
No. An air purifier filters particles: PM2.5, dust, some of what makes air smell. It does not remove carbon dioxide, because CO2 is a gas that passes straight through a HEPA filter. The only thing that lowers CO2 in a room is replacing the air with outdoor air. That is exactly the job VentPlus automates.
Because CO2 output scales with how hard people are working. A seated person exhales roughly 18 to 20 litres of CO2 per hour — about 1.2 MET; at the 6–8 MET intensity of a spin or HIIT class that rises six to eight times. Twenty members training hard put out roughly as much CO2 as 120 to 160 people sitting at desks.
Running it continuously would. Running it only when CO2 is actually high is called demand-controlled ventilation, and it is the standard energy-efficiency approach precisely because it cuts the hours of unnecessary fresh-air load. VentPlus is a demand-controlled ventilation controller — the fan runs during the full 7 a.m. class and not through the empty mid-morning.
One Main Unit covers about 100 sq m (1,200 sq ft) where air circulates moderately. A big open weights floor with good circulation may be fine on one; separate closed rooms — a spin studio, a yoga room — each need their own, because the whole point is measuring the air where the people actually are.
Yes, and gyms that do tend to make a point of it. The wall unit shows live CO2, temperature and humidity on a backlit LCD, and the online dashboard can be opened in any browser — some operators put it on a screen at reception.
